1. Tips for using a curling comb (with a hair dryer)
(1). Blowing inward/end C curls
Steps:
Divide the hair into sections (operate the lower section first), take a strand of hair (not wider than the comb);
Insert the comb from the bottom of the hair with the teeth facing inward, and wrap the ends of the hair around the comb (roll 1-2 times);
Use the hair dryer to blow hot air at the curled part (8-10 seconds), then switch to cold air to set the curl (5 seconds);
Pull down first and then release to avoid tangles.
Key points:
If you have a lot of hair, choose a large diameter comb (over 4cm); if you have less hair, choose a small diameter;
If the ends of your hair are dry, spray a heat-insulating spray.
(2). Blowing the roots of your hair
Tools: Nine-row comb or cylindrical comb
Nine-row comb:
Insert the teeth into the roots of your hair and pull it up to the ideal height;
Blow the roots of your hair from the side with a hair dryer (hot air for 3-5 seconds), and release after cooling. Cylindrical comb: Place the comb under the hair roots and curl it back half a circle; Blow the comb surface from above with a hair dryer (avoid blowing directly on the scalp).
(3). Curling bangs/broken hair
Tools: Small curling comb (2~3cm in diameter)
Insert the comb from the inside of the bangs and curl back to the roots;
Blow the roots of the hair with a hair dryer at low heat (3 seconds), and release it after it cools down to form a natural curvature.
(4). Creating wavy curls
Steps:
Divide the hair into sections and take a strand of hair;
Place the comb under the hair piece, tilt it upwards at a 45° angle, and curl and pull it (similar to a hair curler);
Blow hot air around the comb with a hair dryer (10~15 seconds), and release it after it cools down;
Break the curls with your fingers for a more natural look.
Key points:
If the curls are not durable enough, apply foam wax before using.
2. Daily use tips without heating
Untangling tangles: Start from the ends of the hair and comb upwards in sections to avoid violent pulling.
Smoothing frizz: Use a boar bristle comb from the top of the head to the ends of the hair. The bristles can bring scalp oil to the hair.
For a fluffy crown: Lower your head and comb your hair back toward the crown. Use a nine-row comb to gently scrape the top layers (avoid scratching the cuticles).
3. Tips for Avoiding Common Mistakes
Incorrect Use | Consequences | Correct Alternatives |
Combing wet hair directly with a fine-tooth comb | Breaking hair and damaging the cuticle | Using a wide-tooth comb to comb through hair in sections, starting from the ends |
Blowing hair at high temperatures close to the comb | Burns the scalp and dryness of hair | Keep the hair dryer 15 cm away from your hair |
Excessive curling when curling | Hair gets stuck in the comb shaft, making it difficult to remove | Limit to two curls and avoid over-tightening |
Using plastic combs with high-temperature tools | Deforms when heated and releases harmful substances | Choose a high-temperature-resistant ceramic-coated or wooden comb |
